Audit Activities

  • Audit of follow up plan of patients in the orthopaedic out patients departments a Russels Hall Hospital, Dudley

  • This involved random review of case notes from out patient clinics. It was noted that 30% of the follow-ups were inappropriate. Few recommendations were made to cut down these inappropriate follow-ups.

  • Audit of consent forms and operating lists in the operating theatres at Russels Hall Hospital, Dudley

  • This was to check for 100% confirmation visa vise the type of operations and other details. Not a single mismatch was found regarding the side and type of operation. However, one patient had the wrong date of birth entered on the operations list

  • Audit of negative Arthroscopies of the knee at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dunfries

  • This included the retrospective review of Arthroscopies without any definite procedure in one year. It was found that 43% of total Arthroscopies were only for diagnosis. It was recommended that by more and more use of MRI imaging the number of these negative Arthroscopies could be brought down

  • Audit of Supraconndylar fractures of Humerus in children at Royal Hospital for sick children, Glasgow

  • This involved review of all the Supracondylar fractures of Humerus admitted during the year 1998

  • Audit of simple bone cysts and pathological fractures

  • This audit was done to see the healing of fractures in simple bone cysts.
